I've been looking into these tomato squeezers. I definitely need to get one.

Does anyone have any suggestions or pros and cons to specific kinds. I'm thinking I'll definitely get one that is motorized. Thanks!

This is not motorized but its the one that I have and LOVE it. There are four different cones for all types of seeds. We can process pounds of Blackberries in about a 1/2 hour or less. It is not difficult to turn and my husband is now the official juicer man! Clean up is very easy as well. We got ours for around $35. by shopping the Internet. I just gave you this link so you would have a starting point.

Sorry just thought of another idea. I have not used it yet, but just got a three pack of attachments for by KitchenAid mixer and it has a juicer/strainer. May be someone else here has used one and can give pros and cons. Our tomatoes are done for the year - bad year for us - weather was just too cool with only a few days of good ole 100+ temps.

They are also listed as food mills. I was lucky enough to get one passed down to me it is about a two quart and I use it for applesauce and is it ever slick so I know it would work for tomatoes.

I checked the book on the hand cranked food strainer and it says:

"For best results use fresh, ripe uncooked tomatoes. Wash and cut into quarters. Process through Tomato/Apple Sauce screen. Add seasoning before or after staining. If you cook tomatoes first, let them cool slightly before straining. For thicker sauce or tomato paste, simmer pulp until thick."

That's all she wrote.....

There was nothing in the KitchenAid book about processing the tomatoes.

I agree with Opa best investment going.

I core mine and threw all in the strainer and it did a very good job taking out skins, some cores that I didnt get to, leaves and seeds. Best $50 dollars I spent on a KitchenAid strainer!

I use a "Back to Basics" and I love it! My daughter is the official stomper!

The screen for tomatoes/apples is a bit of a pain to clean but the larger screens (for salsa and pumpkin) are easier.
