Remember you can always go with the metal roof and put a cool roof coating on it if need be. Just see the cost of the coating and add that into your cost so you can make the best financial choice for you.

This may or may not apply, but when our house needed a new roof, I chose a lighter color metal roof to go over our old dark shingles and our home is much cooler now in the summer (as we do not have air conditioning.)
