Anyone have a wolf hybrid?

This is also a breed that I would NEVER consider. Unless I planned on not having kids for the next 15 years, getting rid of my pets and livestock, and having the time and energy to watch this dog constantly. Yeah, they look beautiful. Yeah, they can be very smart. And yes, some may even be friendly. You said you saw pictures of them with cats and small children. But those are the exceptions to the rule. Most of these dogs cannot be trusted. I wouldn't turn my back on one for a second.

People have bred out wolf-traits in dog breeds for thousands of years for a REASON. You've got to remember that. When you look at a little, say, golden retriever. Do you imagine a wolf? No! That's on purpose. People don't WANT wolves to be around their children, their pets, or in their communites.

When there's breeds like Malamutes or Huskies, why would you get a wolf-dog? I mean, besides bragging rights.

Please read the link below.

"We spent at least 12,000 years turning a wild animal the wolf into an animal that can fit well into human society," says Lockwood."

Here's another point from that same site.
"If wolf hybrids often turn out to be a disappointment for their owners, they pose a real threat to the wild wolf population. Exterminated throughout most of the country decades ago, wolves are just beginning to make a comeback, thanks to the determined efforts of wildlife groups and a gradual shifting of public opinion in favor of restoring natural habitats. Small numbers of wolves have migrated from Canada to remote areas of Minnesota and Montana, and a controversial reintroduction effort has restored healthy wolf populations to remote areas in Idaho and near Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and Montana."

Sorry. You asked.

That's not always true and besides do you really think I would have a wolf hybrid anywhere near my chickens! Google some breeders online and you see these things with a small child laying on it's back or cuddling with a cat. I'm talking about a 50/50 mix not a full blooded wolf.

I'm just asking if anyone has one not how anyone feels about me getting one. That's it. No arguments getting started here.

MODERATORS,
Where did the button go where you can delete a thread??????

I was asking people if they had a wolf hybrid.....I DID NOT want to argue about them.

I guess I just won't come back to this topic since I no longer have the right to delete it.

Southernchick, I am closing this at your request.

Folks, I will remind you that these threads get locked when people are not helpful.
Southernchick didn't ask how anyone felt about her search for a wolf hybrid, she asked if anyone had one.
If no one had one, they should not have responded in such a negative manner.
This is the behavior that gets threads locked.
Have a nice day.

Terrie, I concur with the tone of needing to close this...but I need to make a statement.

After I'd been married for about a year, my hub and I adopted a dog from the humane society. Normie was skeletal, neglected, and starved. He slowly became more secure in our home, and from that became the perfect pet dog.
My daughter was born after two years of Normie's residence with us.
I have heard all the propganda about wolf hybrids, but my experience with mine was that he became the perfect family dog. He never once showed aggression, especially to our daughter as an infant, tolerated being climbed on and poked by her in the face, and still was eager to secure the perimeter of our home from wild coyotes in the area. He did not chase the birds, as he was clear that they were special to me.
We had him for nine years, at which time he quietly passed at the age of either 11 or 15, depending on who's exam you read.
To this day, I'd jump at the chance to find another Normie...
That is all....
