anyone have any black Australorps?

Was thinking about buying some Black Australorp. Any thoughts on them?
Good large egg layers?
Winter hardy?
Friendly?

i have some,, their as good as RIR's laying, bout same size and as often,, gentle,, pretty,,, but gotta make sure they have plenty of shade in the hot sun.

I had two, just sold them, but they were nice. They were both cockerels and were fairly mild tempered. I don't know about laying, b/c I had cockerels, but they were good birds.

All of the above! They are winter hardy, very friendly and lay nice size beautiful brown eggs. I am in NC so my girls have seen everything from snow to super hot, humid summers and they are happy and healthy...

Can't beat em. Prolific and constant layers, beautiful birds, no probs ever in super cold and super heat. Lovely and even tempered.

We live in Iowa and it get really cold here. My 10 B.O. hens are laying 8 to 10 eggs everyday. So yes they are good layers. Very friendly also.
