ANYONE HAVE EGGS DUE!! CHARTS ON PAGE ONE POST ONE!! NEWCOMERS WELCOME!!!

Candled my 15 barnyard mix... RIR/EE. Out of fifteen, ten are thriving and growing, one is in question, and four seem to be duds (non fertile). They are on their 10th day, so I will give them until lockdown before I throw any out. The air cells seem to be right on! And the temps and humidity have been staying steady. My fingers are crossed for a better hatch this time around.

Fingers crossed for all of you

.... Good luck

I had a 1588. I bought a Brinsea, didn't like it. Sold that and bought an rcom eco. Love it. Almost completely hand free. Solid stable temps. Big window, double pane. However, I just bought another 1588 because I left the first one in the garage and it got yucky.

Over a 200$ price difference. With a bit of fiddling, the 1588 is great. I feel disconnected from my egg hatching in the rcom (yes, laugh). The 1588 makes me a participant. I have gotten stable temps in it with a piece of bubble wrap draped over the top.

I also love the Brinsea glass thermometer. I think it's the best.
I ordered the 1588 digital with fan. Can the fan be turned off at day 18 or is that a good idea ? Should I maybe order one without a fan for hatching and use the one with fan for incubating ? Thanks for all your patience

You don't need a second incubator for hatching, the one you ordered will be fine. I personally am interested in a hatching incubator for back to back hatches. If I a still air works well for hatching that should save me some money.

I put 6 LF eggs under my barnyard mix bantam broody on Feb 16th in the evening. Removed 1 egg on Feb 18th after someone else was laying in her nest and cracked one and put a big peck in it.
Just candled, all 5 look good I think. I've never candled before and they are brown and olive eggs. The air cell looked great and there was a dark area in 1/3 of the egg, so I'm assuming they are growing. The 2 brown ones, I could see veins and a dark spot for the eye (I think)!!
They are due March 8th!

we have the same hatch date

I just set 19 of my own girls eggs. Hatch day will be the 16th of March. Should be 6 pure Wyandottes. GLWxGLW or SLWxGLW. My Barnie roo likes to jump on the girls but my GLW doesn't usually allow t so I really have a mystery bunch. The rest will be mixes. GLWxBR, GLWxRIR, BarniexBR, BarniexGLW. Possibly some polishXGLW or BR. Maybe a cochin mix. I haven't identified her eggs but I don't think I have any in there. I think she just started laying and she may be laying my long skinny eggs.
