I wish that I would have saw this thread 4 weeks ago when I got my new incubator and set my eggs. Then I wouldn't be so ready to pack up my incubator and put it in the closet forever. :/

This is my first time owning an incubator and I have absolutely hated this entire process. I've always let my broody hens hatch eggs. Maybe I"ll give it another shot now that you have provided such a wonderful and useful tutorial.

Very nice thread Stephanie, I set my eggs 12 days ago. I'm hatching out ducklings for the very first time. I've never done this before and I'm so excited. They're due to hatch on the 18th.

My first time hatching was a complete failure
I had about $150 in shipped eggs and not one hatched

i learned from my mistakes and kept trying until i got successful hatches
i learned u cant give up, just keep trying.

What kind of incubator do u have??

I want to take my chick out of the bator but i cant now lol. two or more eggs have pips. i can see two right now. lol Im ganna have to wait till the others hatch

I found out if u set eggs, write down the time u set them. Most will usully hatch around the time u set them. Mine have at least lol

Would you be going to the Bangor TSC? I was thinking that was the one you would go to and if it is I could meet you there after they hatch. (or here which ever was closer) .

Picked up 3 more chicks from the feed store. 2 dark RIRs and a Buff Orp. suppose to be pullets


Im only keeping like 4 of the chicks hatching and what i bought
i have homes for all the others lol
thats y i picked up some for me
most eggs in the bator arnt mine. im hatching them for friends

I have a Brinsea Eco 20 with the auto turn cradle. I guess my problem is that I have been so spoiled for so many years because my broody hens have always hatched the eggs. All I had to do was mark the calendar and look for eggs on the hatch day. With the incubator, I have to keep an eye on temps, water level, etc. It's too much work for me. I guess I'm just lazy. :/ I don't have to check temps and humidity with a broody hen. All I have to do is make sure she has fresh water and food and that she stretches her legs.

lol i never used a broody hen except to hatch quail eggs. Ive always used an incubator. ull get use to it the more u use it
