Anyone have fainters?

A stable I ride at has 2 fainters. Never seen them faint. Act just like normal goats!

They used to run around free but now they're penned up because they ate the tack.

so..what makes them faint?.do they just do it while playing..or at any time?...they sound adorable...

We have one, she is the sweetest thing! They are nice because they are not normally jumpers, making them easier to contain. Ours was a bottle baby so she doesn't faint easily because she is so used to people and stuff. However, the donkey chasing her caused her to stiffen, getting sprayed with the hose when she was trying to steal the goose food, also did it!

Most goats do not like rain or bad weather and like to be inside when it is dark. They are big babies! Pasture wise, our 6 (3 nigerians, 1 pygmy, 1 fainter, 1 mini nubian) share about a 1/2 acre and it is plenty large. Sometimes I rotate them to the donkey pasture, they eat the weeds and the donkeys come up and eat their grass.

They have Myotonia. When they get startled, the 'fight or flight' message gets sent to the brain. The problem is, the 'relax' signal takes awhile to get through making them stiffen and sometimes fall over. It only lasts a few seconds and then they walk away.

Our girl doesn't faint as often as our boy.... but she did today! My son didn't even do much to startle her but she did a headstand/front flip! We held our breath to make sure she was ok..... then laughed. I sometimes feel bad laughing at them, but it is humorous. My husband said she was doing her floor exercise for the Olympics.
