anyone have fire ants?

I use Citronella oil (that you can spray on horses) on fire ants..kills them..lol..I spray around feeders,grounds,and even on my animals..helps repel flies and skeeters as well...

UHHHG! I can not express how much I hate fire ants . When I was a kid they made huge tall mounds and we would destroy their mounds but now they spread out and you cant see them in the grass. Those bites itch forever! My husband says its just a bug with hot sauce for the chickens

i live where fire ants originally entered the USA. We have a lot of them. Frankly i was worried about the ants until i realized the chickens like to eat them. I had some coming to some spilled food in the coop. When the chickens noticed them they ate the heck out of them. Since then i have never seen a fire ant in the run or in the coop. Now i get them in my garden and end up putting a perimter of amdro around and it works great. I wouldn''t use Amdro around by coop though for fear of chickens eating it. but chickens will eat fire ants i have seen it with my own two eyes!!
