Anyone have Golden comets?

I have golden sex links ... I think they're the same thing. Mine are very sweet - come running for treats; not crazy about being picked up but will tolerate it. What particularly appeals to me is that, unlike the Rhode Island Reds I had before, they don't beat up on chicks that are introduced to the flock. In fact they seem to make a point of being friendly. They lay well; my flock of 13 GSLs and 2 older Buff Orpingtons gives me 10-12 eggs a day, and some of the eggs are HUGE. The eggs are usually strong-shelled and well-formed.

So that's the good stuff. The bad stuff I'm just starting to wonder about ... I've been thinking I must simply be a really bad chicken mama because I've had several deaths of apparently healthy birds, as well as several getting sick and dying (or needing euthanasia). I've been doing some extra reading, however, and am learning that some people consider these chickens to be fragile, in terms of their health. So while I like them a lot I'm rethinking whether I want to get more.
