Anyone have GreenChickenCoop.com experience?

I'll pile on with the comments about Green Chicken Coops. The ordering was easy, Dan was pleasant and suggested a few add ons and I ordered an Alexandria coop. After 6 weeks, I hadn't heard back from them, yet my credit card was charged. My girls were in the garage, getting bigger by the day so I was getting pretty anxious. It took a couple of calls and emails and a couple more weeks before the coop shipped and I received the tracking number. I had the feeling that they would have waited longer to ship if I hadn't contacted them. They are not able to live up to their published lead times and charging that far in advance of shipping is really bad.

The coop arrived, fully assembled with the legs stored inside the coop and was in good shape. They must have hired someone with a Phd in shipping logistics, it was bolted to a pallet and wrapped like a cocoon, nothing was going to damage it..ever. I live in suburban California where the yards and gates to get to the yards are pretty small compared to the rest of the states. Unfortunately the coop was too big to get through my gate and I never could have lifted it on my own even if it did. It weighed 250lbs and 350lbs with the pallet. So, I had to hire a few guys to lift it and walk it down the top of the fence between my and my neighbors house. It didn't take the guys long to get it in the yard and set it up and it looks nice and it's well built.

The coop comes with a roost, but you need to install something to block straw or shavings from being moved out of the nesting boxes. I have 4 buff orpingtons and it's just big enough for them, one more and they'd be cramped and cranky. You could maybe fit 5 of a smaller breed in there. I didn't consider ordering a run from them as I didn't have enough room to fit it and it was very pricey for what you get. So my boyfriend built one for the girls.

Overall the coop is nice enough and it's very sturdy, but I would not buy from this company again. Their business practices are sub par, they obviously haven't been able to keep up with their demand and you can get more for your money with other coops.

Nice coop, terrible customer service. Almost abusive...I totally hear you! You do need a small army, or a forklift to get the pallet where you need it to be.

I kept asking when my coop would arrive on Facebook (they have a Facebook page). They deleted everything, then BLOCKED ME! Who does that to a paying customer? Still shaking my head, as a small company like that can't afford to do this.

Ljgracie,
Thanks for your input. It sounds like they make a quality product. I just wish I could have gotten mine in a timely manner.

The truth is that I didn't cancel my order because it was late. If Dan had just been honest with me from the start about my coop not being ready yet, maybe explaining that they are unusually busy and working as hard as they can, I probably would have been sympathetic and patiently waited.

I canceled and asked for a refund because Dan directly lied to me, at least twice, about my coop being done and "shipping out tomorrow". The icing on the cake was him getting furious at me over the phone and becoming verbally abusive. His hostile manner, transparent excuses, and then shifting the blame to me was more than I could take. No vendor should treat a buyer like that.... EVER.

Here is were things stand on Wednesday Sept 11, 34 days after I placed my order for an Alexandria coop with the promise of "Delivery available directly to your home or farm in 2-3 weeks" :

On Monday, Sept 9th, I called Roadrunner to see what I could find out about Dan shipping my coop. I gave the nice customer service girl the tracking # that Dan gave to Paypal. She could not find anything in the system. She offered the possibility that " Maybe he entered the number wrong?" She even tried to find a shipment from greenchickencoop in Bay City to my address... nope, nothing.

I then called PayPal and asked them to look into it. As I waited on hold, they called Roadrunner and were told the same thing: no such tracking # & no record of anything sent from greenchickencoop to my address. They tried calling Dan, but no answer, so they left a message asking him for the right tracking #. They also sent an email requesting the right tracking #.

I checked my Paypal today, Wednesday Sept 11, and see that Dan has not responded to either request.

So I'll go out on a limb here as say the Dan never shipped my coop at all. I believe that he is maliciously doing what he can to prevent the refund of my money.

Today is September 11th. It has been 12 years since that horrific day.

Please take a moment to remember the innocents who lost their lives. Please think of loved ones who lost someone in that cowardly attack. Please remember the bravery of the heroic first responders.

It's shameful that people out there don't care about ripping people off. Sounds like he got in over his head and could keep up and can't fill the order. (Guessing). On the other hand it's nice to hear that PayPal stepped up to the plate to make a call to the guy. Online shopping is mainstream today. I do it and have had good results so far (knock on wood). I'm sorry you're going through this, sounds like a night mare. I hope it gets resolved in your favor.

Dan still will not voluntarily refund my money even though the coop was never shipped. I guess now I just have to wait for PayPal to do it's thing.

Yikes, still no money back? Have you tried talking to anyone at all in their company? Kelly it seemed was making apologies for Dan.
Hard to say what will happen, hope you get your money back! Yikes, what a message to send...I mean be hionest about your deliver times already.

Terrible customer service, I don't see this company staying in business for long.

To be honest, I'm afraid to even try calling them. Dan is the only person who ever answered the phone. To say he is irascible is an understatement and I'm not big fan of being verbally abused over the phone.

How did you reach Kelly? Maybe he can help me?

I just called PayPal and the agent tells me that they are waiting for Dan to respond to their voice mail and email requests for more information. They need Dan to give them the URL for the greenchickencoop website. I offered to give it to them and he was adamant about it needing to come from Dan. I don't understand why I can't just give it to them.

It is the page that says "Delivery available directly to your home or farm in 2-3 weeks"

I also found out that PayPal has removed my $1,384.00 from Dan's account and is holding it for safe keeping. So Dan really has nothing to loose by authorizing my refund. I believe that Dan is just doing this out of spite and is ( ironically ) holding true to his word of " Good luck getting your money back! " I'm guessing that Dan will continue to drag this out by not responding to PayPal's requests so that it takes as long as possible for them to release my money back to me.
