The BBB asked if I would settle for Dan's offer of " a 20% handling and restocking fee on the product purchase price of $1099.00 bringing resolution to this issue."
You can read my full response to his offer in post #49, but my bottom line was " I expect a refund for the full purchase price of $1,384.00 for the non receipt of goods."
September 17: I just got off the phone with PayPal and they tell me that Dan finally contacted them. He is telling them that because he supposedly build a coop with the options that I chose it is a "custom built" coop. He is arguing that because of this he does not owe me a full refund.
Whatever he wants to call it, the truth is that he never shipped it to me at all, let alone the 2 to 3 weeks promised on the website. Why in the world should he get to keep any of my money when I never got the coop?!
PayPal says they need another 72 hours to review the case.
That is hilarious! Although it would be a fitting gift, I'll have to decline your generous offer. I'm pretty sure he would figure it out and claim that I was harassing him. I wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize my case.
Today is a wonderful day! PayPal finally gave me a full refund!
Dan did everything in his power to drag this out as long as possible, but he couldn't get around the fact that he never shipped me the darn coop. It was a frustrating ordeal that I hope none of you ever have to go through.
The best way to ensure it doesn't happen to you is tonever buy anything from Dan & Mary Cohen at GreenChickenCoop.com.
Please be aware that they also sell their coops through williams-sonoma.com; specifically the Alexandria Chicken Coop & Run, the Briar Extended Chicken Coop & Run, and the Chicken Coop Run Frame Extender, 3'.
Don't be fooled into thinking that ordering through williams-sonoma somehow makes it safer. If you look closely you will see the Green Chicken Coop products are all "Vendor Shipped."
Please do research on the seller you choose. Search for reviews, not just of the product, but of the seller too. Check with the Better Business Bureau. They have information on most reputable sellers and websites.
Ask the seller specific questions. How long will it take for them to build the coop and get it on a truck to ship out? How long does it usually take for the shipper to deliver to your area? What shipper are they using? ( search the BBB for the shipper too )
I ended up buying my new coop from http://www.horizonstructures.com/ . Fantastic communication by phone as well as email. I always got a call or email back within hours, but usually within minutes. I feel they are honest and realistic about how long it will take to build my coop, as well as the time it will actually take in transit. They have an A+ rating with the BBB.
