Well I hope you don't mind ? Next time put the chick into a margarine container on paper towel and leave in the incubator. It can take over 24 hours or more to absorb the yolk. Definitely NEVER give a baby bird anything by beak till it can actually do it its self..Also don't put anything on the swollen umbilicus area.. it needs to dry up..

This is correct if it is an unabsorbed yolk, but if you look at the OP's image on the first post you will see that it WAS NOT an unabsorbed yolk. @Chickassan explained briefly in reply # 27.

I don't want to be rude in correcting your post, but I think it's important to point that out in order to avoid confusing anyone who may read this thread.

We had one like that about 2 1/2 weeks ago and she is doing great now. My wife cupped her in her hand on her chest for about 36 hours or so until she was strong enough to get around well and then we took a hen that had all of her babies stolen by another hen and introduced the chick to her and she adopted it and is raising her and now 5 other babies as well.

Big trick is keeping the baby warm enough and humid enough and protected enough. It will take probably 24 to 36 hours before it is able to get around reasonably well from that stage.
