Hello everyone!
Not sure if you've seen my previous threads, but that early bird egg has now hatched into a beautiful duckling! However, since it was an early bird, he came out of his incubator before his siblings. He has been on his own a little bit in his brooder, but he continuously chirps loudly whenever I'm out of sight for over five seconds (I assume he has definitely imprinted on me). His second sibling just hatched, and his third is on the way, but they obviously can't join him for a while since they have to rest and fluff up in the incubator as well. I have taken to sitting by his brooder or holding him for a little bit, but I want him to get the necessary warmth in the brooder, as well as food and water, if possible. However, it is worth noting that he doesn't really seem to want to eat or drink yet, either. It hasn't been 24 hours yet since he hatched, so I think he may still be full from the yolk, but I hope everything is normal and okay. I also tried playing some ambient and calming music, which I think has helped as well, along with placing a mirror in his brooder. I'm really hoping I can get his siblings out and with him soon!
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions as to how to go about this? It should definitely get better with his siblings out, right?
Thanks in advance for your help!
