My Bantam Cochin is finally starting to lay her eggs. Her eggs are so small. Wondering how on earth a chick would fit inside it, and how little it must be hatched. anyone have pics to show just how small the chicks are on day one.

Don't worry--chicks can hatch from those eggs! If you want to see small eggs, you should see the serama eggs! And I know from personal experience those hatch without a problem. Teeny little chicks, but they live.

Here are some of mine at day old

Their heads seem to me to be the same size as other chicks' heads (not that I had others at the same time to compare) but their bodies are definitely smaller. All the same, you look at them and really wonder how they fitted in those eggs, because they don't look quite small enough. Very, very cute though!

I have a Japanese Bantam that is sitting on my Black cochin Bantam's single egg that she laid the day she died.

Should (hopefully!!) hatch any time.....I'll post a pic, but don't know if we'll be able to tell which one is the cochin's.

Interestingly, my Cochin's name was Kiwi...

Here's a few of mine (3 Cochins and 1 Silkie) that hatched 3 days ago. They look big in the pics, but they're tiny little fuzzies.

Kiwi's egg hatched...!!! It's the only one so far..Suzie is still busy trying to hatch her own 9 eggs. It's day 22 and I'm getting worried or probably just really really impatient!!

I will post a pic as soon as Suzie get off of em!

Yay!!! A baby! I'm sure the others won't be far behind.

no extra broody hens to go around.......sigh.......

what else can you do with bantam eggs, you would need 10 to make a sandwich. !!!!!!!!!
