Hey all!
Found out yesterday that my local feed store was getting a shipment of chicks today, including production blues. The gal there was very excited since she was getting some herself and had never raised them. I wasn't going to get any more chicks but the idea of production blue intrigued me. So today I went and bought a couple. Now I have been looking up some info on them and there is not much. Anyone else have them, and if they are adults how is the laying and temperament? I am not finding a whole lot on the internet not even pics. All I know is that they are a 300 a year layer of brown eggs. Are they a brand new hybrid?

If you are talking about the Plymouth blues or sapphire gems, I have some 3 and 4 weekers . Mine are from townline and I love their disposition. They are very friendly so far . There is some you tube videos on sapphire gems at the laying stage.

Im not sure. She showed me a pic of them yesterday and it looks more like the sapphire blue. Here is a chick pic of the 2 I got.

Thats funny I wanted to try the ISA but could not find them this year. I hope the production blues turn out better than the reds. I use to have reds but they where mean.

A PB is a RIR rooster x Blue Australop hen. I bought four this spring and lost two to coccidiosis unfortunately. But they are sweet birds and free range well. I’m so glad I got them.

Any eggs yet? I bought one this year. She is about 20 weeks. I don’t really know because she was a pullet when I bought her. Judging by the looks of her though, she should lay start laying anytime. She is a very friendly bird and she has integrated with the flock well. She doesn’t pick on other hens nor do the other hens mess with her. Here she is now:

They are being sold from Privett Hatchery. Here’s the link.

No eggs yet, they’re only about 3 months old. I actually bought them from tractor supply with the promise that they would lay blue eggs lol. Hopefully we’ll get some eggs in the next couple of months.
