What do you expect?
I once carried on a whole conversation over HF voice (radio)to a guy on another ship using only the word "Dude!"

My CO thought I was nutz when I said "Sir, USS XXXXX will continue course and speed and allow us to pass 3 NM astern." What HE didn't know is that I already had that information before he walked in on the "dude" conversation.
