Anyone here ordered from Mt.Healthy Hatchery????

I have placed 5 or 6 orders with Mt. Healthy over the past three years and have been very pleased with all of them. Their customer service has always been great when I call them up to place my order. I've never had a problem with an order, so I'm not sure how they deal with those issues. They are only a 3 hours drive away from me so this really helps in getting the chicks shipped here quickly.

I have ordered their Assorted Heavies pullets on a couple of occasions and the box always comes with the breeds sorted and labeled on the outside of the lid, which I really like. I've never had any of the larger hatcheries do this on assorted orders.

I've also had good luck on my EEs. l have 15 from last year's order and all of them are laying blue or green eggs. Maybe I just hit a real lucky streak. I'm not sure. Last year I also placed orders with 2 of the larger hatcheries because they offered a larger selection of breeds than Mt. Healthy. I had pretty good experiences with them, but none of them stacked up to my experiences with Mt. Healthy. So, this year I am going to stick strictly with Mt. Healthy.

I'm getting eight pullets from them on Monday(4 Buff Brahmas and 4 Black Giants) however, I live about 30minutes away from the hatchery so I'm doing a local pickup. I can tell you what I think of the chicks when I get them, but I guess I can't tell you about shipping. ahaha.

Also for the person talking about the 50 extra chicks earlier, there is a deal where you can get 25 extra chicks for ever 50 but that doesn't explain the extra 25. aha. Maybe they were just being friendly? Or maybe the needed to make room for a new shipment?

The quality is there. There are a few good breeders that say if you have to buy from a hatchery this is the one to do it from. My chickens are from them all of them are and they are healthy happy and good size. More correct toward standard than most hatcheirs and very sweet temps.

This is the hatchery all our local feed stores order from. I'm pretty happy with my girls. The Barred Rocks are nice and fat and good layers, and one of my Wyandottes (Desdemona) has nice thick lacing.

We just received our order of 50 BOs with 25 bonus chicks (RIR). and our 1 extra (BO)!!! WOW WOW WOW! Everyone arrived healthy and BIG! (even in the brutal cold!) They are now 3 days old (hatched 11/19) and we could NOT be happier! These people live up to the name!
