Hello, one of my friends has a Black Cochin who expresses her frizzle gene throughout her tail. She wants to breed her cochin with a frizzled black male Cochin. Does anyone have a black frizzled male cochin that they’re willing to let us breed her with? We do not want to keep him.

To get frizzles, you breed a frizzle to a non-frizzle. Then you should get about 50% frizzled, 50% smooth.

So she has the gene but only expresses slightly. Her mom came from a 50/50 batch of frizzles.

Okay, so if you're sure she's frizzled, then you can't breed her to another frizzle. You have to breed her to a smooth rooster.

Ok, she aren’t really my bird so I’m just helping the owner get a chicken. If anything goes wrong we understand we will have to put the chicks down. Thank you for the help with genetics but the owner still wants a frizzle male even if he is just for show. Thank you though.
