If there's anyone in Columbus or a similar consumer market, can I ask how much you sell your broilers for? Is there any reason to sell per pound vs. per bird?
Last time we did broilers, we spent too much on feed and packaging and sold birds for $15 each, and only made $1.50/bird. This time, with some better know-how and feed management, we're looking at $11.73/bird including processing and packaging costs--AND we found a USDA inspected processor, so we can sell the birds even though we didn't process them ourselves.
Just trying to figure out how to price these babies. We have people clamoring for them.
