Anyone Interested in a 2017/18 Emu Hatch Along?

Pics
every day is more exciting than the last. I find that I think about them ALOT! Oh well day 50 will be here soon. Hatching eggs of any kind just kinda draws me in. When I get started I wanna hatch all kinds of critters, well birds anyway as I've not dealt with reptiles any. My Son in law is wanting ducks for the farm, but he wants to buy them. In a way, i can see that. Get the number you want/need. Pick the personalities of them and health too. But...oh well. I got a few more days yet.

So emu 1 2 4 and l5 are all here loving life B5 is just starting to chirp so he or she will be here in the next or two. I have 6 and 7 on I believe day 30 something that will be coming soon. I am awaiting for emu B5 to hatch so I can put 5 more in the Bator. I am glad most are having good hatches to the ones that haven't hang in there it not only takes time to get the technique down but not all are actually fertile no matter what the seller said. I do have eggs available that are guaranteed for a while if you're interested.

Well it’s day 44 or is it 45? I’ll have to look later. My eggs are just wiggling around pretty good when whistled to. It may be my imagination but it seemed they would wiggle more when our local humidity was lower than it is now. We’ve had 8+ inches of rain here in the last 9-10 days. Oh, more forecasted too. When my local humidity comes up so does my incubator. In the beginning I had 23ish%. With all the rain the bator is running 37-41ish% humidity. Well it’ll calm down soon. Chick are on the horizon!!

Well desaster has struck. Violent storms have caused a power outage by the time we got home the analog thermometer read 60. now I realize thats air temp not egg temp. we have covered with a couple of folded up blankets to insulate them to hold all the heat we can havent opened it for the same reasons. Now more waiting but, this time for power first.

The power was only off about 3.5 hrs. lucky this time, they got to the problem and restored the power quickly. eggs felt cool when we checked after the power was back. After warming up they are still wiggling away. At this point, all seems fine. Of course all remains to be seen. I think this is day 46, dang I just cant remember that. I'll have to look but it hould be this week one way or another. Then, BOOM!!! chickies. Well, i suppose more like squeak squeak instead.

I know im like others, the excitement builds as to time for hatching becomes closer. Makes you want to sit and stare. Just watching for the first signs of a crack. Not quite a crack heard around the world but it will be as important to me. I just want to slip those little prehistoric darlings outta their shells and say hello! I cant hardly wait. Dont worry The birth announcement and pics will follow the big event.
