I am finding it VERY difficult to find a swap that is not 3 hours or more from me. I am trying to have a chicken swap / meet here in NE Vermont. The closest that I found was in Johnson which is about 35 minutes from me, but in Sept or Oct. I live in Barton and we have the Orleans county fairgrounds right here. I will be looking at other places nearby too, because I heard you might have to have liability insurance to use the fairgrounds.

I am thinking that northern NH, southern ME and maybe folks from Canada or other parts of Northern VT would be interested????
Let me know what you think!

I'm in Northern NY and would be ALLLLL over that. The closest one for me is in MA at 7 hours away and PA 9 hours away... where in NE were you thinking? Kingdom?

Yes, Barton is in the Kingdom. If not in Barton, I was going to look at nearby towns, Newport, Derby, Orleans.......Is this still too far for you being we are on the eastern side of the state?

I can do Waterbury/Montpelier in 4 from my house and your an hour from there right? Besides... any excuse to be in VT is a good excuse

Yah 4 hours plus the difference, I lived in Waterbury for a while, so I know the territory and back roads pretty well.

In case anyone is interested, I have started a list of birds I will be selling:

2 bearded white Silkie roosters. Turning out pretty nice, but fight with the other roos.

About 7 months old.

A trio of Silkie x Cochin. One really funky and cool looking roo and 2 hens (BANTAMS by the way). The hens have been great layers of small brownish eggs everyday now. They are about 8-9 months old. Pepper, Daisy and Maisy.

A Silkie x Cochin roo named Charlie. Brother of Pepper (out of the trio). He looks more like a mottled cochin (single comb, white with black feathers on his neck....rest of him black).

A pair of Standard sized Barred Rocks. The roo, Spice is very handsome and a good rooster. The hen, B, is laying almost everyday a large brown egg. They are bullies to the bantams, especially Pepper and his girls and my Salmon Favs. We started with these 2 and a WC black Polish (RIP)....so they have been hand raised and have never bit me or the kids or any visitors. Good home only that WON'T eat them please!

I might have a couple of Silkies too, but haven't decided which ones.

Trying to make room for new ones to come in that I want to concentrate on (Rare and critical breeds).

Just a FYI

Sounds like a long drive.....

But like you said, any excuse to be in Vermont!

I looked on a map and it isn't much shorter, but you could go to Canton, Malone into VT that way and come down thru Troy. But I say go whatever way you feel comfortable with! That is what I would do. I hate getting lost.
