We have four Saxony eggs incubating that will hopefully hatch 2/25. So far they're developing really well - hilariously active when we candle them. Last time I incubated four we ended up with three (one died three days before the hatch) so I have no idea how many will survive. But since we only want one or two there is a chance that we will have extras. Since the fun is when they're ducklings I just wanted to see if anyone living near San Francisco would be interested so they could bond with them early!

No more eggs - this is an incubation we're doing because our two boys were killed three weeks ago. So we incubated the eggs our female kept laying after they died - and four have inhabitants! Since the offspring will be her own children....I'm not sure how great the genetic line would be from mating with her own son. I imagine that happens sometime with small flocks of ducks - do you think?

One generation (mom/son) isn't bad, but generation after generation is where you get the problems.

Maybe you can find someone else to do a trade with to get a different bloodline in the mix.
