Anyone know about Success with ReptiPro 6000 Egg Incubator with Two Automatic Egg Turners ... ?

Ok, in the Reptipro, there are already two shelfs, and I'm adding another on the bottom for a total of 3 shelves. I'll place a batch of eggs on a shelf, wait a week then place a batch on the next shelf, wait another week and place a batch on the 3rd shelf. When the first batch is ready for lockdown, I move them out into a another incubator for hatching. So basically, each week a batch out of the Reptipro goes into the hatcher, and is replaced by a fresh batch. Hatching in a second incubator keeps my primary incubator much cleaner, and I can hatch a lot more babies that way.
It sounds like you will have to do that if you already have eggs in the hovabator, and are expecting more. You can use your hovabator as your hatcher, and stagger the two batches. Once a hatch is done, clean the hovabator real good for the next batch and have it running with your humidity higher for the hatch next hatch. Does that help?

Well.....long story short, I have not had good luck with it at all. I ended up buying a regular Hovabator the other day and transferred eggs into it from the Reptipro. Out of 2 batches of eggs, I had only ended up with one hatchling. The eggs I moved were out of a 3rd batch that didn't have good results at first candling. What I should have done in the first place, was get one of the Genesis Hovabators....a tried and true incubator. I know some people have had good luck with the Reptipro, but I haven't.

We bought a ReptiPro 6000 and set it up with ball python eggs about a month ago. We had no problems up until now, but this morning we came in to check the eggs and the temperature had skyrocketed from 90 degrees to 150 degrees sometime between 4am and 10am this morning. The eggs were shriveled up and measured 120 degrees when check with an IR thermometer. The hygrometer we placed inside with the eggs got fried as well. Up until today, temperature and humidity were fine. According to the person I talked to when I called ReptiPro, condensation can form between the glass in the door and thereby reach the electronics and short out the system. The incubator is supposed to be insulated to prevent this from happening, but ours apparently wasn’t and we lost about $3000 in eggs. ReptiPro offered to replace the unit and include a hygrometer at no charge.

anyone know if the egg turner that fits in the 5000 will fit in the 6000 ?

Hi Chris.. long time no see!.. by the way.. I am still using my ol 5000.. and getting 100% hatch rates with it!

Someone I know has a Reptipro 6000 without any egg turners, does anyone know if the egg turner that fits in the 5000 will fit in the 6000 ?

Well I found a reptipro 6000 on craigslist for a price too good to turn down. I ran it for a day, and it holds the temp real nice.
No egg turners, so I just ordered one of the reptipro egg turners. A question I have is in regards to ventilation/air exchange with the reptipro incubators, and controlling humidity. Has anyone devised a way to increase ventilation when needed with the reptipros? From what I've read the only way to get air exchange is to open the door periodically, which doesn't seem to be the best option especially during a lockdown when you are trying to maintain higher humidities. I'll be giving the reptipro a trial run in about a month, any pointers you can pass along for a successful hatch in the reptipro?

FORGET "LOCKDOWN"

You do NOT need it with a Reptipro

They have this wonderful ability to have the humidity shoot right back up right after the door is closed
The placement of the fan is such that you do not get shrinkwrapped chicks

and as an FYI i have hatched DRY ...yes HATCHED dry.. not meaning INCUBATING (which the two .. hatching and incubating.. are different things) and still have had 0 issues with chicks hatching out in the Reptipro


If you are unable to be there to open the door.. there should be two notches along the door frame.. try putting aquarium airline tubing through one.. see if it allows the aquarium air pump to pump air in..
A few people on here have done that and said it worked for them
