It is a coturnix quail.Looks like a female to me,but you can't tell the ages of birds by looking at them.
In N.H.,Tony.

That's what I've been reading. I want her for the eggs so I want to make sure she hasn't laid yet because she's not ready. Not because shes older and has stopped. The woman that has her said that the person she got her from got her a couple months ago. When I read up it said they start laying between 4-6 weeks so wouldn't she be laying already?

It looks like a normal brown coturnix hen but without seeing her from the front I can't be sure.

Yes they start laying at 6-8 weeks usually, but because it's going into winter with the days getting shorter she may not be laying. They can lay well in winter with supplemental light, about 14 hours a day.

Also if she has been moved around lately she might be too stressed to lay. They can quit laying for a few days, weeks or longer after a move. They need to settle into their new enclosure before laying again.
