How different is Alaska and Canada compared to SE Continental US? I know its got to be allot colder. Would it be easier to find cheap very rural land in Canada or Alaska? Are the people very different? I heard some places in Canada they speak French. Just curious on how different they are since they are so close together.

Actually, the northern tier of States (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Dakota, and Montana) are colder than the coastal parts of Alaska. The farther inland you get from the Pacific Ocean, the colder it gets.

Quebec is where they have French-Canadians... Everything must be in English and French. But, that's way over to the east from Alaska, north of New York / Maine.

there is frequently cheap very rural land for sale in Alaska .
look up ALASKA STATE LAND OFFERINGS they will have land after the 28 TH at 5% down .
the Werther hear in southeast is vary mild butt lots of rain in the winter it can get down to the 10 F or so but for the most part is in the 30's to 40's if you like hunting & fishing you will love it hear.

Quebec is the only Province where French Canadian is their official language.
The rest of Canada speaks English and it is their first language. French Canadian is mandatory in school up to a certain grade most people don't take it if they don't have to but if you want to work for the Federal Government it is a bonus.

Parts of Northern BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario don't get any colder than say your state of Colorado. Winters are longer in those areas.
Where I live is a banana belt, we rarely get snow, winters are short (if you can call it winter) rain is less than most people think.
Real estate is very expensive where I live because of the fabulous weather, it is next to the ocean and beautiful landscape.

Parts of Northern BC (mining), Saskatchewan, Northern Alberta (oil), Northern Manitoba and Nova Scotia (not much work) are still reasonable for real estate. Land is still cheap in the Yukon and NWT too. It takes a certain kind of pioneer type to live there but it is no different than Alaska. Big mosquitos!
People in those Northern areas are more likely to help a neighbour out and have a more relaxed way of life, mostly hunt and fish in their spare time. There are some pretty tight communities and if your in need they will be there for you.
