I found a chicken called a bluebelle http://cedarcreekhatchery.com/Cedar-Creek-Bluebell-Super-Layers-1069.htm
Sounds cool.... brown eggs with a plum hugh. The original bluebelle's I've heard are from the UK....... Meadowsweet bluebelle's.
Does anyone know how to breed these, especially to lay the plum tinted egg? I've heard they are created with a rhode island red and a maran, and I've also seen another version created by a rhode island white, barred rock, and maran cross.

I'm sorry I have never heard of them. But I know descriptions kinda take poetic license - most eggs that are certain colors are pale and really hard to tell if lite green or lite blue etc. I wouldn't think ones with a plum cast over brown would be noticeable unless you were trying very hard to see those colors. Eggs taste the same regardless of color and some people ask big prices trying to sell you something different.
