I'm still interested in handmade recipes too

Miss Jayne has an AWESOME recipe on her website! They are really easy to make, too!
Bagels

Never more will you pay $3 for a 'fancy schmancy' bagel! Scoff at bakery prices! Eat bagels everyday for a fraction of the cost.

Makes about 8 bagels.

4 C. Bread Flour (NO substitutions!)

1 TBS Sugar

1 1/2 tsp. Salt

1 TBS Veggie Oil

2 tsp. Instant Yeast (No substitutions!)

1 1/4 - 1 1/2 C. Warm Water

Kosher Salt, Parmesan, Sesame Seeds etc...for toppings

Mix all ingredients in bowl. Knead for 10 minutes, until dough is uniform and smooth.

Cut into 8 pieces and form each into a ball. Let rest for 20 minutes under a buttered piece of plastic wrap or damp tea towel.

Roll balls out into a 'snake' that is double the width of one or your hands. Wrap around your dominant hand and roll through the center into a loop.

Let rest another 20 minutes under the plastic wrap or damp towel.

In the meantime, fill a pot with about a gallon of water and add a TBS of sugar.

Let water come to a boil. Preheat oven to 425*F.

Place a few bagels at a time into boiling water. Boil for 1 minute on each side then place on a cooling rack to dry. Top with any toppings at this stage.

Bake at 450*F on buttered cookies sheets for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

These are some of the best bagels you will ever taste!
