Anyone know the genetics for V combs?

I'm working on a long term Houdan project, and just hatched out my first batch of F2 eggs. My biggest disappointment is with the combs, and I haven't been able to find a lot of info- so I was hoping one of you gurus on here might know. My F1 crosses are 2 batches, one of crevecoeur/ancona crosses, and the other black polish/Houdan- in each batch one parent has a V comb and the other does not. Less than 25% of my chicks have the trait, which is making me wonder if I need to re-write my 3 year breeding plan?

There are 2 mutations for duplex comb. The V-shape variety reduces "comb flesh" volume extremely when purebreed. As a heterozygote in combination with a single comb for instance it has much more comb tissue. It looks like a single comb with a split heel section then.

Sonoran Silkies- This link is GREAT, thank you so much. That's just what I needed to know and puts my mind at ease, if I continue with the 4 gen plan I originally created, by F3 I should be seeing the correct comb in 50% of my hatches, and by F4 75%. My F4 plan was to get me to a place where from then on I could expect a few non-standard things to pop up, but for the most part I'd have a breeding line that was predominately accurate, and by F7 or so I hoped to eliminate any oddball throwbacks.

It looks like the comb genetics will fall in with that plan, which is a HUGE relief. Thanks again!
