I got this sweet chick out of the "rare breed pullet" bin at the mercantile. Does anyone know what breed she would be? She is aprox. 5 weeks old.

That's what I thought too, but I wasn't sure since it was supposed to be a rare breed. She looks like a Production Red ( or hatchery quality Rhode Island Red), not a rare breed though.
Hmmm, ok. Her feathers are definitely not solid red, they are multi colored...I'm not sure if you can see that in the pictures...should I put up some more? Or is that still typical for a production red?
Yep, it's common in PRs.
Production Reds are said to be a mix between a Rhode Island Red and. New Hampshire Red, most hatcheries however mix in their own breeds. It is also believed that hatcheries breed in Leghorns to increase egg production.
Just some info on PRs.
