I have a Speckled Sussex pullet that I got from someone else. I got her when she was about two to three months old from someone else. I put her in isolation for about a week and then put her with everyone else. She seemed fine for about a month then she started seeming like she was having trouble walking. Now she is at the point that she can barely walk at all. She walks on her hawks a lot when trying to get from one place to another and has to catch herself with her wings a lot.

I have given her antibiotics. I have also wormed her and treated for mites just in case. I tried to give her save a chick water but, she refused it. She has had water with Apple Cider vinegar and sugar. I have tried to give her eggs with yogurt but, since she is so young she didn't really seem to understand and didn't eat it.

She doesn't seem to have any breathing problems or anything. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be wrong. Does it sound like a vitamin deficiency? Should I force vitamins. What do you think could be wrong????

I have done everything I can think of if someone else can help me out I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Michelle

I have 16 8 week old chickens which I got as 1 day olds form McMurry Hatchery. They all seemed to be doing well until about 3 days ago when one of them started to act like what you described. SHe does not seem to be able to walk well but does walk some, is eating a bit and drinking water. They were all vaccinated so I am not sure what is wrong with her. Everyone else seems to be OK. I haven't a clue.
If you find out anything please let me know.
Thanks,
Vicki

If she looks healthy and acts healthy, she could have just gotten injured, my chickens have done that once in a blue moon, the maybe hit there leg on something while jumping from a perch, etc. Like humans, animals including chickens get injured.

Thanks guys.

No it is obvious it is not an injury. It is not one leg and it is obvious it is getting worse a little day by day.

I think I will get some vitamins. I will check out that link that was sent to me. What are the symptoms of Mareks?

Some symptoms of Marek's are limping, steady paralysis of the wings/legs, and sudden death. Marek's also comes in an ocular form, which disfigures the pupil of the eye and causes it to turn grey, and a cutaneous form, which causes tumors in the feather shafts.

I had a peacock died today. yesterday it acted like he didn't have much energy and laid around a lot I moved it by itself and gave it food and water and then it just died. I don't have a clue why. Broke my heart
