Do you have it uploaded to the site? Or, if it's on a picture host site already, you can link to that too. Once it's uploaded, ('upload' button on the blue bar above, or the link wherever it's loaded at) you past the link with the
tags like you have in your post.

Oh, never mind!

It's a Tobiano Paint. White over the the backbone so they would look like a white horse with color spots. Overo Paints have predominant color over the back so they would look like a color (bay, black or sorrel) with white spots.

For example Tonto rode a Tobiano Paint. Little Joe rode an Overo Paint.

The third kind is much more rare, called a Tovero Paint which has characteristics of both.

The first name I'd give that horse's pattern is...beautiful!

You can do a Google search to find tons of info about paint & pinto horses, piebalds, skewbalds, tobianos, etc etc etc.

But this one has markings similar to if not precisely like the Medicine Hat pattern, with the color on the top of his head & ears & the shield on his chest. Something the Indians thought particularly cool & desirable.

What's his name? Have fun with your new friend!

Yes, tobiano (like, as opposed to overo, sabino, or other patterns).

Whether it's *technically* a paint is a registry issue (has to have stock-horse blood, blah blah blah) though of course many people use the word casually, like just conversationally, to mean the general color pattern. Some would say 'pinto' is a less registry-specific term, although of course there is a pinto registry out there too

(e.t.a. - he is not 'medicine hat' though

Is he a young draft cross?

Have fun,

Pat

Yes Tobiano. If it has one or both eyes blue it could be a tovero, but from what I can see I'd say tobiano.
