This evening I saw that one of my hens had two large lumps on each side of her head. She has one on each side. Does anyone know what they are and how to treat them? They are fairly hard to the touch. UPDATE: So this am I had a chance to look at her better in the sunlight, and noticed she had some more bumps on her eyelids, comb and wattles. I am thinking likely fowl pox. I am definitely open to any insight others may have though, or recommendations for treatment. I attached some more photos. I also tried using a qtip and some warm water to see if I could clean them up at all, and it had little effect. It seems like a hard scab. I sprayed some Vetercyn spray on her and have her isolated from the rest of my flock. UPDATE #2: I found a second hen with similar, minis the ear issue. She is separated with the other infected hen.

Looks like a really bad ear infection. Can you get a picture, or with less glare?

I'd suggest taking a few wet Q-tips, to soften the yellow crust, then using some hydrogen peroxide, as a wash, to clean, & help get rid of infection. After the peroxide, pack the ears with some regular Triple antibiotic ointment?

I attached some more photos and an update to this post. Let me know what you think when you have a minute. Thanks.

An antibiotic might be helpful to treat the ear canker or ear infection. Ear canker may be caused by a fungus or by certain bacteria, such as E.coli, pseudomona, klebsiella, and others. But I would first try to clean out the ears and remove some of the gunk, treating as recommended in posts 3 and 4.
