Hi all. I cant seem to find a hatchery/breeder who sells White Chantecler chicks. Buff, Partridge, Red - yes. But not white.
I live in Minnesota and want to locate these beautiful white birds that can withstand some cold.
Want them primarily for laying hens - so hope to purchase just pullets. But willing to get a rooster or two also.

Appreciate your help!

I believe Sand Hill is the only hatchery that carries whites, but you're late in the game if you're just now ordering them and you may not get any this season. There are lots of people out there wanting them!

Edited to add that Sand Hill only offers straight run with a 25 chick minimum. Also, I haven't seen their whites, so I don't know what you should expect, but I was happy with their Buff birds. Fluffier than they should be, but otherwise very close to standard. (Type-wise, as buff is not an accepted color...)

Sand Hill and private breeders are the only option for the whites. The partridge, buff etc. are technically not Chanteclers. They were developed by a different breeder about 30 years after the whites and were named the "Alberton". The APA renamed them Chantecler but the only original Chantecler is the white. They are very rare. I'm looking too.

Technically, the buffs were never Albertons.

Hopefully we will see more small breeders offering white stock in the near future. I love my Buff Chantecler but I understand the White are really something to see.
