Anyone know why she sits like this?

Anyone know why my runner has been sat like this most of the time for the last day or so? stays all tucked up like that when she is walking too but she isn't venturing very far at the moment

Only other time i have ever seen them do this is when it is has been raining really hard and they stand there looking sorry for themselves

None of the others are doing it just her, it's not exactly cold here at the moment either. I am guessing she might be feeling a bit off, but wondered if anyone else had similar and found the cause?

She is a runner maybe not 100% but this is her usually

She will be around 2 years old now, not been getting many eggs from any of them recently, the Khaki Campbells have been laying a few still but not noticed any from the runners, she spends most of the time stood rather than sitting and havent noticed her sitting and trying to lay it or any mucous, not picked her up yet though so will do that and have a feel

Might put her in and put the heater on for her too just in case, see if it helps

Your duck is not feeling very well and is exhibiting the classic sick bird appearance which often consists of a hunched-over look due to the bird trying to maintain warmth. At this point, it's hard to determine what exactly her problem is, for that more information would need to be provided, but I think it would be in your best interest to bring the duck inside and set her in a warm, stressful free area, that is towel-lined for a better understanding of what her poops look like.

Provide feed and water in a dish, and if she doesn't seem to be drinking much, try dripping sugar water or an electrolyte like Gatorade along her bill often to keep her hydrated. Getting a baseline weight on her is always a good idea with sick birds as it allows you to see if the bird is losing weight, and if so, if it's at a rate that supplemental tube feeding will need to be implemented to maintain proper health.

Once she has had time to settle down. It would be a good idea, to do a thorough physical examination on her, palpating her abdominal area, checking inside her mouth, her legs, around her vent, etc. Note any abnormalities in your findings and let us know.

Pictures of her first poops would be helpful, as would a few close up pictures. If she is a layer, administering a calcium supplement like tums, or calcium gluconate may be beneficial, and won't hurt her even if that's not the apparent problem. Minor Egg binding is a common cause of lethargy in grown ducks.

4 years of having ducks and dealt with plenty of stuff but never one doing this. She isn't friendly enough to come in the house but their house is enclosed inside a stable which has a section with a patio heater for when any of them are not feeling great so i will pop her in there and keep an eye on here to see how she is getting on

Let us know how she gets along. Not that you're not already aware, but be careful with that patio heater. Too many coops get burned down each year, of heaters of all kinds.

Yeh it's actually a big breeze block stable and the heater is well away / high enough away from anything wood / straw etc and only put in low heat, as you say need to be careful, and still keep an eye on it through the camera i have in there as well

She has just gone in there and has been drinking so that's one positive, least she isn't off the water, not eaten yet but as i say, only just gone in there, will check for poops etc later
