Anyone living off the land?

What a wonderful story and pictures! This year we've added more container plants as well, because they are easier to manage and water.

My hermits are in a aquarium. With rock and sand & food and their bowl of fresh water with sea sponge in it .One crab came from our county fair & the other from the mall. One is still in the shell he came in and the other one which is the size of a tennis ball quickly moved out of a painted shell into a natural shell. I need to take some lessons from u to learn how to set up a better habitat for them. Your habitat sounds awesome. I didn't know they lived that long. I have had mine about a year and a half now. I hope mine will live along time. My other pets like to play with them when I have them out, but most of the time they are scared to death of them. They just don't know what to make of them. It is quite a show when the crabs are out and about at my house.

I will be doing some crab flipping tonight. I will let u know tomorrow how it turns out. I hope HERMAN is a Herman and Eight Ball is well Eight Ball. He got his name from his old painted shell with an eight ball rolling through flames. I have been calling him a him.

We have Turkeys on our farm also. We have white ones, brown& white and regular ones. I like to try to get the last gobble in when I get them started. WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE I think!

Chickenlady13-I LOVE to cook turkey! If I can get the land I will give it a try. Please give us details on the differences between turkeys and chickens

I have just started some hydroponics..........anyone have experience with this? I am growing cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes and also raising talipia fish in the water tanks under the vegetables. Its early days, but it seems to be working.

That is great Jak, and is also encompassing aquaponics due to the fish. Yum!

I have no idea what that is. Tilapia is great, it is the only fish I can get the whole family to agree on. I never thought of raising fish when I get my land. Wow that would be great. Fish don't need to be fed do they? I could build a pond!
