Anyone living off the land?

Somewhere I can get an acre or more for fairly cheap-real cheap. Somewhere not in the southern states where its too hot. Somewhere where my kids will have a decent education. Somewhere where they dont descriminate towards native americans. I would prefer to be no more than 20 minutes from town. I need to be fairly close to a hospital because that is where I will be working-no more than 40 minutes. Somewhere where an apple tree will grow without costing me a fortune for water LMAO

I like small town feel. Where I live now everyone knows everyone. Any suggestions?

No idea about prices! I went to university there and loved it. Lots of small communities and people homesteading. Then prices were Cheap...

As for Permaculture, I've taken my design certificate, and am currently putting together a 80 acre homestead. I know there are many offering intro courses in california, Google it! Take an intro course and you will just be amazed... Some neat things I think about are that if everyone east of the mississippi planted veggies instead of lawns, you would be able to feed the USA 2 times over, and not need to grow anything West of the mississippi.

I would still grow anyways

I am doing an experiment. A friend of mine once had a pinto bean fight in her back yard with her kids-the dried beans. Without doing anything they just started growing!

Yes she lives down the road from me. I dumped a whole pound out there so we shall see

Well, a little water might help. Putting the seeds into the soil will also help.

The good thing about the pinto beans is that they grow in dry desert areas. I don't think I am going to actually eat them. The purpose was to see if it worked, see if my soil will grow anything, grow the beans to make the soil better for something better, and most importantly-to let my chickens have some greenery to munch on that I don't have to buy. I will always buy them what they need but it will be fresh and help my pocket a little
