Anyone make Chemo Caps?

In between making the squares for my sister's blanket I have been making "chemo caps" to donate to the center where I did my treatment when I was a teen. I only have a couple made so far but I was wondering if anyone else does this & donates? I would also like to see pictures of what other people donate too.

when I did my treatment there was more babies (3 and under) at the center than any other age group so i am starting with smaller sized hats but plan on making some bigger ones for the kids and teens, just can't figure out a good pattern yet. I want them to be cute/cool but still warm.

I don't sew, but my mom made some lap blankets for an assisted living/old folks type home. I bet she never thought about making chemo caps. I'll tell her about it this weekend. thanks.

You are doing a good thing! At the hospital where my granddaughter was treated, they had a box full of chemo caps - and each child could choose one or two. Some kids wear them all the time, and others would rather just go bald. But when they first lose their hair, most of them want a covering of some kind. I'm happy that you completed your treatment and are doing well. My granddaughter is doing well, too. I crocheted her a couple of caps, but I didn't follow a pattern -- but they turned out okay. Sorry I don't have a pattern to share with you.

Here's the two I have done so far. I have some other hats done but don't know if they're going to the HS fundraiser yet or not. if not then they'll be good teen hats.

when I did treatment there was a small basket of donated hats for the kids to choose from. I always wore a bandana or hat while i was bald because my head was so dang sensitive. I did get a wig but only wore it once, to school, and everyone kind of acted like they were trying to ignore that it was there... it was totally weird so i never wore it again!

Those chemo caps look very nice. Wish they would have had them 40 years ago. I am a childhood cancer survivor from 1971 & 1974 & 1988. I had osteogenic sarcoma and lost my leg in '71 and spred to my lung in'74.

I had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2001 and will be donating the hats to the center where i did that treatment. Then Cervical caner in 2009 and still doing the every 6mo follow ups so far. they did surgery for the Cervical but i did about 9 months of chemo for the lymphoma so that center was like home there for a while!

Here are two sites I really like. Both have tons of free patterns. Some of the hat patterns are made to be chemo caps, and others are not called chemo or cancer caps, but are very nice looking and could be used for that purpose. Some of them look so nice that I wouldn't think twice if I saw them at an expensive department store.
