anyone order chicks from MYPETCHICKEN.com?

Hi! I ordered a mixed bag of 5 chicks from them. I was notified that they will ship the week of March 23. It will be either the 24,25,or 26th that I should receive them. I will let you know how it goes!

I did order from them 2 seasons ago -- for started pullets and they are very fine chicken friends, they are red sex links and are very healthy and never had a problem with them. I also had them vac against Marek's. (the chicks too, cause I had no problem with my pullets from them...so I went with it).

I ordered my Australorps from them last year. The order came in perfect and all of the chicks survived. I did not realize then that they were using another hatchery for their stock. They are really nice and informative about the shipment and all. I would not hesitate to order from them again. I think you'll be happy as happy with them should you decide to order from them.

I've been comparing costs on MyPetChicken vs. ordering 25 from a hatchery. Since I live in the heart of the city in a rural area, I'd have to order 8. The shipping costs mean it will cost me almost as much to order 8 as it would to order 25!

So I will be looking for a chick-order buddy, sticking with my local feed store, or ordering 25 and selling extras on CL.

BUT great that MPC exists for those who don't have other options or don't want to fuss.

My chicks last year at the local feed store were $1.99 each - the only reason I wouldn't go that route again is wanting specific breeds- the feed store only stocks the very mainstream chicks. (I need to figure out how to make SS mainstream!)

I ordered my first chicks ever from MPC on March 21, I think. I ordered 4, even though their minimum is 3. (for day-old chicks) I also ordered a bunch of stuff like a waterer, a hanging feeder, and lot's of food. All of that arrived on March 30. My chicks are due the week of April 13th, and I'm sooo excited!!! They seem like really nice people. They sent me a confirmation email after I ordered, and they included some FAQ's about shipping chicks. I look forward to getting my babies!!!

(I also ordered 1 Australorp!

I got 8 last fall---healthy birds as advertised and expected, no suprises, no extras. The flock now at 7 months +- remain as good healthy examples. Shipping was the killer. There 'heat pack' must be made of space age gold leaf. I do think I will look locally next trip to avoid the shipping cost and 7 a.m. run to some postal distribution center in some out of the way location. But for the guy that does not need 25 birds, a good choice.

I got my first girls, four assorted chicks, from MPC two weeks ago, and have been very happy with everything.
They were shipped on the Monday and I got to pick them up from the P.O early Tues, Im in west Florida, (so let the P.O know on the Monday your expecting then so they call you a.s.a.p) The packing was awsome, a heating pad and a dollop of "grow gel" like jello for them to eat. I suffered the high shipping costs as I realy wanted different breads and haveing girls was a must. I had mine vaccinated, and dont see why anyone wouldnt, but I guess its personal choice. Enjoy, I sure am!

Ciao,
My first experience with mypetchicken.com was two years ago. I ordered 8 day old chicks in September 2013 and a week later I ordered 4 day old chicks. I was very happy with my dealings with mypetchicken.com.
Subsequently, I ordered six fertile hatching eggs to place under my broody hen; none of those eggs hatched. I contacted mypetchicken.com and they apologized and issued me a $10.00 credit towards a future order.
Last month I ordered three Bielefelder hatching eggs(not cheap) and three Buff Orpington hatching eggs from my pet chicken.com and redeemed my $10.00 credit. Mypetchicken.com teamed up with a new supplier and my eggs were shipped. Unfortunately, the shipping box was not marked "hold for pick up" and the eggs were placed on the postal carriers truck for delivery. I went to the post office after I had looked up the tracking information and was informed that the box was on the truck for delivery (my house is last on my postal carriers route). I ended up driving the route and found my postal carrier and she gave me the hatching eggs.
I advised mypetchicken.com of the above and informed them that part of the box was damaged but it looked like all the eggs were intact. The eggs were placed in a Brinsea mini advance with eggs turner. I followed all the instructions to a T and after three weeks, two eggs hatched.
I have read many threads online and have found that this is an unacceptable hatching rate. I contacted mypetchicken.com and they apologized and felt that the hatching rate was acceptable and I should look at the troubleshooting guidelines. I canceled the eggs after one and two weeks. Three looked viable and three did not.
I have two Bielefelder chicks and four unhatched eggs.
I have written once again to mypetchicken.com and I am waiting for a response.
