Anyone Out There Unable to Speak?

Ahhh but you CAN buy anything online. There is a minor question of legality, though. Still illegal in most places to buy a kidney online. People do it, though. They just travel to other countries to seal the deal & have the surgeries.
(Article about one instance & a UK investigation into such things http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article7293.ece)

I
suggest that it would be safer (and more legal) to buy the following kidney bean costume, for the low price of $1,049.

When I was preggers with DD1 I had to be given massive inhaled drugs which made my vocal cords so flaccid that they did not work.

I was voiceless for over four months.

In my case it became a life altering awareness of silence. The ability to STAY silent however, didn't stick!!

I already had a rudimentary knowledge of what is known as signed english, not ASL. But, there are so few people who understand it that it didn't really do me much good. DH and I worked out a few so we could communicate more readily between us. Other than that I lived by a white board I carried everywhere.

The funny thing was the number of people who assumed I was deaf if I could not speak.

Yes, you can order things on-line like pizza. Places like McDs have a menu with pictures so you can point at what you want, but usually by time you communicate that you want to see that you could manage to communicate what you wanted to eat!

Truly most people felt sorry for me I was so huge and so clearly not well.

I order from Dominos all the time but I do believe that you can also order Pizza Hut and Papa Johns online also. You can also choose cash or credit when ordering online.

I used to work at a McDonald's and one co-worker/college buddy was learning ASL at the community college. There is a deaf woman in the county who would come through the drive-thru periodically and the gal who knew ASL was ALWAYS off whenever this woman came through. I wished that the deaf woman would come inside with her order written down rather than come in the drive-thru, mess up our "order order" since she just sat at the order taking speaker so we always had to insert her order. Also, she NEVER had a pen or paper and we always had to scramble to get some for her.

Hey, next time try Internet text relay services. You would not be abusing the service as you have a legitimate reason for using it. AT&T and Sprint offers this service for free. Just acccess the website to reach an operator and type the number you are calling, then your message. It's easy!
Ordering online is the best thing to do, and that's what my son does when I'm not home.

My son always orders inside. If that person doesn't have the ability to speak and to be clearly understood, he/she is ignorant. I'm all about accomodations, and the ADA, but sometimes one has to use common sense.
