Anyone own a Haflinger?

She's quite a cutie!

A friend of my husband raises, trains and drives Haflingers and I would love to buy one but we can't afford another horse. Some of the older riders who do endurance in this state like Arab/Haflinger crosses because they have Arab speed and endurance but Haflinger sensibility and bone. The friend of my husband, his kids will occsaionally hitch up a cart and drive the mile down the road to the corner store to buy ice cream.

I have a haflinger mare, and her daughter who is half Arabian. Star is a very easy-going small horse- they are built to be durable and strong. She is gentle and safe for kids and adults to ride. She was broke by Amish when we got her as a yearling. Star isn't registered, but thats okay with us.
Joedie, "your" horse is very nice; good body build. I'd take it! LOL

We have had a Haflinger mare for 2 years. She comes from a great bloodline and has a great temperment. She pulls a cart and is ridden. She is housed with 3 minis and 1 mini donkey. The donkey is her boyfriend, or so he thinks. She lets the donkey do whatever he wants, eat her food, etc. You cannot go wrong with this horse. I would do it in a heartbeat.

My daughter says she emailed you about this. She is feather leg farms.

My buddy has a halflinger. She's awesome. She keeps her at my house and rides with me all the time. The halflinger, Candy, goes on trail rides, works in the arena, and is starting 4-H. She has an awesome temperment and loves to work hard. I like Halflingers, although, I wouldn't get me one... I have too many horses as it is, and if I were to get anything I would get a quarter horse (I rodeo... it's hard to do that off a Haflinger...). BUT, if you want a horse that will do just about anything for you and be a great, calm horse, a Halflinger would be a great choice!

I've been reading so many great things about this breed of horse, would you all say they'd be a great beginner horse for someone? I moved out to the country this summer and have been dying to get some experience with horses, I've wanted a horse ever since I was little. I scroll thru CL now and then and came across a couple of these for sale, clicked on them to see the pictures and thought they were just the most beautiful horse. I would eventually like to get one of my own, if I could find some place close by to keep it.

lynzi,
yes!
at ten yrs old had learned to ride on a small haflinger called sandy;using a safari cub saddle. :p
when was not riding used to go into the barn to be with her she was so friendly and loved attention.
the next pony had ridden was a fourteen two hh haflinger called candy, she was just as 'bomb proof' as sandy.
haflingers do have a very good reputation as being predictible/reliable though personaly if was getting a horse and wanted
a super 'bomb proof' horse woud probably buy an ex schoolmaster cob though its an ultimate dream one day to have an
icelandic pony, woud recommend having a look into this breed; may be lucky to find a seller of these local, have never found
a UK riding school with one yet.
