Anyone painting their Chicken House now ?

The reds look 1000% better.

The other color looks dead, dreary, cold, lonely, no life and boring compared to the red.

Ask her to re-think that.

I agree, but got to keep peace in the family - I may paint the trim on the coop something brighter in the spring, important thing was to get some paint on it before the snow flys again!

I totally understand.

Getting ready to do mine as well...I like that. What color is the stain?

it's the semi-solid stain from benjamin moore, i'll look for the can and see what color it is.

Me! I'm staining my coop! I've only gotten two sides done and will probably have to wait on the other two until we get an occasional non-windy, over-50 day. I used a solid stain. Still need to do the trim. Door will remain clear although I want to stain the straps.

beach livin' :

i did mine a lighter shade of blue. since you have the pink, and blue allready, you can throw in another "coastal" color. what about a pale limeish green or a shade of teal?

I was thinking about the pastel color palette, but then decided that Neopolitan or Spumoni ice cream colors are pretty popular too.

I'm going to wait until next week probably to decide, after I let my husband look.

Really there are 4 main houses in all our 2 huge chicken pens (9 pens total).

I don't think my husband likes the idea of one house being 4 colors. So maybe I'll only have just 3 colors to paint them. After all, the neighbors have to look at my chicken houses too.

Thanks ! I do like those colors a lot, but really wanted the pink in there just for a girly color, since I do have one chicken pen for my chickens.

Classic farm color......white trim ?

Yeah, our poles outside of our pole barn was that barn yard red. I wanted to make them a little more playful/colorful for the kids/chickens/customers since they are little chicken houses.

I like barn yard red on barns. (although mine are silver from the tin).

Classic colors are just not my taste.

I like things a little more artsy and fun.

After the paint colors are decided, I want to paint some kind of stencil or chicken images to decorate the houses.

I'm curious what color a "guy" would want to paint his chicken house. I doubt you are going "pink" like I did !

Maybe some camouflage ?

( Just joshing you !)

Let us know !

So curious.... what you'll decide.

Thanks everyone for sharing your pics of your painted coops !

Very interesting !

Our chickens really belong to the kids, so I'm glad we can have some fun with the colors ! (they're young, almost 6 & 12 yrs. old).

I'll put up pics after I finish painting them. I have 3 huge house to paint. Might take me a little while (deciding on paint colors). But if you want to see my blank slate, you can check out our chicken coops on our website (under Chicken Coops).

Besides the color decision (all our trim is going to be white - that's the easy part), I have to worry about 2 mean roosters. Maybe I'll climb on the ladder and paint the high parts and let my son, who knows his roosters and they don't bother him, paint the lower parts.

Anyone decorating their chicken coops ? Like painting chicken images on the houses ? I want to try and find a cute stenciled image, but something large, like 2' tall or 2' wide, just one image on each house's door.

Thanks for your replies !

It's always fun to find a buddy on here, doing the same chicken project I'm working on. (although I haven't seen any houses in pink or ice blue !) Barn yard red does look cute on a little chicken coop, like a little mini-barn for the chickens ! It's quite adorable.
