Yep, Lucky showed up one day shortly after we moved here 10 years ago. She was already laying, so that makes her at least 11 years old.

She has won more ribbons than any other chook I own & is also the only 3 time Chicken Chariot Race Champion in Southern Ontario.

She retired from racing last year & now only participates in shows.

LCRT, I haven't formally met you (or at least as close to it as we can get here) BUt I did venture into some of your posts. Your birds are gorgeous and Lucky, well, there are no words.

I'm very sorry for your loss, and I am in awe that you were able to spend her last days enjoying life and each other. So few of us will ever meet someone to truly love, let alone be able to fulfill their most extravagant desires. You two were very fortunate to have had each other, and man, what a send off!
I hope the memories of your wonderful trip (and life together!)will help you through your toughest days.

LCRT! Glad your back! I'm sorry, i'm so very bad with words, i never know the right thing to say.. ..just please know that i care and you are in my thoughts...

LCRT I not only remember you but have thought of you often...I am glad you have returned.

I will not offer prayers or my sympathies but I will say this

You are one hell of a man and a husband.

If only more could handle the separation with such dignity. I applaud you spending her last months doing what the two had wanted to do and celebrating the wonderful years together.

Death is only a small part of our lives...we cross over and go on to do more. You will see Jan again my dear man and most likely Lucky will be there with her waiting for your arrival.

LCRT -

Welcome back home friend. I'm so saddened to hear of the loss of your best friend and wonderful wife, but what a loving time you both got to share together; so meaningful.

*sneaking a prayer in anyway*

I consider it a gift to be able to spend time with your loved one and say good bye, in that way you were lucky. Glad to hear your doing well and welcome back.
