Hi all.
I have a 3 day old chick that I'm assuming might be the first chick I even have to put down myself. But Im coming here in a last attempt at saving it.
It was removed from the incubator with this injury, it was 1 of 2 that hatched out of 6 eggs. The other was born a bit messed up, but for strong quickly, this one appeared to have splay leg and some injury on its joint. I tried treatment for slipped tendon, but I had never seen a slipped tendon before, so I was going blind. I couldn't feel the tendon, but I think I was just feeling wrong . I cleaned the wound in warm water, sprayed some antimicrobial spray on it, then I used some vet tape to do my splay leg treatment but the chick wouldn't put weight on the leg and just carried it while trying to hop around. 2 days later(today) I decide to really investigate, cuz it doesn't seem better, and I think it has a slipped tendon with a exposed joint or something, I think I realized the injury was just a hole where the back of the joint was kinda protruding, although I'm still not sure and I can't find any information online. I tried to push the tendon back behind the exposed joint, but try as I may and nothing pops into place and the "hole" just gets a bit more bloody. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Even any knowledge on the subject or anatomy would be appreciated. Here are some pics.
