Haven't decided yet, but I'm considering the possibility of buying some hatching eggs. Looking for rare, exotic-looking leghorns such as duckwing, cuckoo, or mottled (especially mottled!). NOT looking for white or exchequer. Anyone have any who can ship to Seattle or know of anyone who does? Thanks a bunch!

P.S. I just selected $30 but obviously I'm not the one who determines the price!

Cheryl Cohen in Northern CA has gorgeous Mille Fleur Leghorns. I hatched some from her with an outstanding hatch rate. Beautiful chicks. Her BYC name is cherylcohen or you can find her online at The Omelet Ranch.

Oh my, those are beautiful! And that is close enough to me that I wonder if she'd be willing/able to ship me a couple of sexed chicks instead, while it's still summer? I was going with the hatching idea because I thought it would be the only way to get rare types of Leghorns, and it does sound fun (plus I have some friends who can loan me an incubator), but getting rid of roos is too much hassle when I could have guaranteed females if that were possible. I'll contact her!

Thanks so much for the info, MrsMoonCat!!

I emailed Cheryl Cohen at The Omelet Ranch inquiring about her Mille Fleur Leghorns, and she was quite prompt, professional, and informative in her response. While I have no doubts about the quality of her gorgeous birds and I'm sure they are worth every penny, I'm afraid her price is out of my reach.

Any other suggestions, fellow chicken freaks?
