Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

URBANMAMAI for some reason cannot post a reply to a quote. ugh! just something else to annoy me today. I keep going in the other room to see if anything is happening. I MUST STOP. Yes it is tough to just sit and wait. SUCKS~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many do you have left if you think some are not viable anymore??? Oh I do hope you get a good bit of fuzzies. I would be thrilled if one out of the three hatched. Of course I would have to spoil it and carry it around ALL day with me but hopefully two will at hatch for company and all. OOPS burning dinner, gotta go!

I've had several hatch out today! It is a day early but it looks like I have 1 Buff Orp, a few pure SS, and a few Lav Orp/SS. I actually have one Lavender chick, which I didn't think was possible unless both parents carried the Lav gene...so I've learned something new today!

HI Roxannemc
thanks...my temp stays about 99.4 - 99.6 so fingers crossed.
this is only my second hatch and my first one to me was way weird but decent percentage for shipped eggs so go figure.
just glad others are having some good hatches so far and so sorry for those that have lost their eggs.

Becoming anxious....I wonder if everyone on here with sucessful hatches would mind saying what humidity they are running in lockdown.
Iam running about 65-70 .who thinks its way too low ?Too high? I Iost my last litte ones b/c of it too low during the first 18 days and the last too i think....dont want that to happen now and i am in lockdown 1 day now.

Sandmbaker- So sorry to hear about your hatch! That's pretty close to what happened to me, only mine were obviously done at ten days. :( I hope you have better luck next time. Maybe see if there are any eggs listed for sale on Craigslist as a pick up. :/

Or did youmean thats how many eggs in there?Went up from16 to 28?

Mcgilla that sounds just perfect. i cant see why you would have a problem at all. Its just scary until you see something move or pip
I WANT TO CANDLE!!!

I hope you will get at least two. One of the two silkies died, and at least two of the BR died. I still have about 20 that are alive, at least that is what I think anyway.

19 of 28 eggs that were viable on day 18 have hatched(or day 16,17 for some eggs )!!

I am using the dry incubation method, this is my first time hatching. I didn't clean the eggs (my neighbor suggested that, i didn't want to mess with them). I'm incubating/hatching in my cool humid basement. I picked the basement because of the constant cool temperature, i figured it would make it easier to regulate the forced air styrofoam incubator. I never added any water, I controlled humidity with a room dehumidifier. I kept the humidity at 45% according to the room dehumidifier, sometimes it went up into the sixties and even up to 70%

for short periods of time. I finally decided to hook a hose up to the dehumidifier to keep the humidity more stable (I also wouldn't have to go and empty the dehumidifier bucket). the egg rack was getting stuck and wouldn't allow the motor to turn the eggs so my wife and i had to turn the rack every 4 hrs (except sleeping hours) by hand. we didn't candle until day 7, then again on day 14 and 18 (again, some eggs were 1 or 2 days younger). we started with 36 eggs total (i think). the hand turning of the rack got four eggs cracked, i wasn't aware we could still continue to hatch those if it was a small crack, only one was a total crack (the egg was doing great but was dropped 4' by me

).we lost another four eggs which seemed to stop developing some time in the first or second week, possibly due to taking too many out to candle at once. two of those had blood rings, I don't know what that indicates. the temp through out incubation and hatching has been at 99.5 according to the thermometer that comes with the incubator. my wife let me know yesterday morning, while i was at work, that the eggs started hatching without issue. 6 hatched yesterday, 13 between last night and now. all of the eggs left to hatch are the ones that were put into the incubator a day or two late (we marked them on the top with a pencil). I didn't add any water to the incubator, i just opened up both vent plugs and set the room dehumidifier to 70%. the chicks were knocking the eggs around and i was afraid they would start pecking at the remaining eggs so i took them out and put them in a 90 gallon fishtank. here are some pics of that (it was used as a saltwater tank so the box in the back was something i made for skimming)...
