Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

i upped my humidity today and I can't wait.... just 3 more days....

4 of my chicks died in the lasst 24 hours from my last hatch...was sudden death. I went out to freshen their waterer and I saw 1 had died that night... when I got back with the fresh water... 1 more died. The night before 1 died... then an hour later...another died. The remaining 4 look great... but so did these ... I suspect the food must have spoiled or was bad. I give them fresh mash every morning... but I dont take it out till the next morning... I think it must have spoiled and they ate it.. The 4 that are alive dont gobble down the mash like the 4 that died... There is no bloody poo...no pasty butts, no nothing weird. just tumble over and died... I saw 2 kinda week just minutes before they died... so sad for me.

oh that is good. I have vitamins in the water for the chicks... I have 2 containers... 1 with and 1 without... just in case they are getting too much. My hubby is out to gets some meds today... don't want to lose these 4 ... 3 are pullets. The 4 that died were cockerels... or suspected cockerels.

we suspect that it could be the feed tho. THey died soooo fast.... such a freak thing...

I've got 5 due in the next 24 - 36 hours. (Barn yard mix)
This is my very first hatch ever.
When I checked them at about 7am this morning 2 had star cracks - yippeee!
Now what do I do? It's been about 6 hours.... nothing else is happening.
Oooo this waiting game is filled with anticipation!
After they pip, how long until they zip?
I'm sure there are a lot of different 'times' out there,
but I'd love to hear some first hand experiences.

Not so much if they are silkies! Especially if they get code enforcement called on me (again). I have a chicken-hater somewhere in the neighborhood. They reported me for 'having a messy backyard'. The code guy stopped in, looked at my yard and scratched his head. I guess he had so many complaints he was surprised my yard wasn't a biohazard. :/ He found one 'violation' in the side yard -the tree we had cut down and were breaking down into two trash cans at a time for removal. He said it was no big and would just drive past in a week or so to make sure it was gone. We finished tossing tree branches and haven't heard from him since but the hater is still lurking somewhere.
