Anyone setting eggs starting July 15 -July 22?

Ohhh, my real revenge came a month later. We needed a new coop and OF COURSE every new coop needs a new paint job... I went with orange and white with one side Dr Suess and one side kinder-garden. I can't get the picture to load up but they are in my album. I have added a red metal flower hanging over the nestbox and a metal daisy ring around a rooster hung on the front.

Sad, unrelated to hatching news :/

My friends dog killed her polish chick a little while ago. I went to clean up for her since she was so upset. I've already lived through a 'dog killed my chick' moment and it's awful so I went to help.

It's so sad...the polish was gorgeous and full of personality and had just started living outside 2 days ago. I had gone over this morning to help her paint her coops and I remember saying to her that her shitzu was trouble [she let him out and he immediately chased the chickens] so I'd hate to rub salt in her wounds by saying "I told you so", but I'm a firm believer that once a dog gets a taste of blood and 'the chase', they're a danger to chickens everywhere.

It's such a shame, and I know from experience that the guilt [knowing that you shouldn't have left the dogs in the yard unattended] is sometimes worse than the actual loss of the chicken .

So sad to hear this. I had a Great Dane that used to catch the chickens but not kill them. She liked to pluck their feathers out. After the few times I caught her doing it she was never allowed out when the chickens were out.

AAAHHHGGHHH! I got home from work and my bator was reading 102.9, I will not be able to deal if this happens again to me

I am on evening of day 21 and no hatching yet..keep looking in every few hours.. last hatch came at day 22 so maybe tomorrow something will happen...wish i had xray eyes so I could see whatis going on.. And the chicks that went outside the other day are doing fine. let them out of their coop today to run around and they were chest bumping each other. Also what is the strange behavior they do where suddenly one will lay on his side and out a wing out and then the rest will do it? I call it " chicken down."

I am right there with you on the *waiting* game. sigh... When did you set yours? I set mine at about 1pm on Saturday the 14th of July.
And to answer your question... The strange one wing out behavior is chicken sunbathing at it's finest-- they are soaking it up whenever they can.
Good Luck to you!

Color me Jealous!!! I am still a week behind! I candled mine tonight. I had to remove 4 of the 34, but we are still looking good for a proper hatching by next weekend.... I hope.

I am so excited to see your pictures of your new chicks and hear your hatching experiences! Keep them coming.

I hope you all are very successful and are blessed with many fluffy peeps.

I had a dog brutally kill my autistic sons chicken in front of him a few weeks ago. I didn't hesitate and took her to a no kill shelter! No more dogs for me. That was devastating to my son and he still gets upset talking about it.

I'm on day 21, and no pipping.  I accidentaly bumped the bator and heard a peeping noise coming from it.  I don't know what to think, I keep reading all these posts about late hatches and can't stand the suspense!  Should I wait another 48 hours before doing the water test?
If youheard peeping leave them....maybe head out :)
