I'm setting 18 shipped eggs. 5 are Black Copper Marans and the rest are Ameracauna's. I'm using my LG Still Air Bator with a pc fan my dh installed for me. Hoping for a better hatch this time around. My very first hatch about a week ago ended up with only 3 of the 24 eggs hatching and surviving. I learned a lot and am doing things differently this time, so hopefully, I'll have a better hatch this time. Wish I had a better camera because the greens and blues of these eggs are really pretty...and this is my first up close view of a Maran egg - I can see why they call them chocolate eggs - looks like fudge....but I won't eat 'em!

The two black chicks in the front are two of the three eggs that hatched last Friday from my very first ever hatch - not sure what they're all looking at...looks like they're waiting for the bus or the train - they looking so hard, they got me looking too

I am joining but it might be in the morning before I start them since I am working late and may be too tired to put them in today. Got 14 eggs each of white, black, and lavender orps from Jody Hinkle and some buckeyes from another BYCer and some of my own buff orps, silkies, BCM, and BLRW. This will be my 8th hatching for this year.

I set about 8 doz 2 days ago. Does that count?

I'll join you -- my DD and I set our first hatch ever last night (the 30th). We're using a Hovabator 1588 I scored on Craigslist for $50. We've got 9 wheaten/blue wheaten and black Ameraucana bantams from her little show flock, and 8 nice silkies from a friend. Hope we do this right! DD's got the incubator in her room, so I hope she wakes up to some happy healthy chicks in 20 days or so.

Happy hatching!

I put 7 "chicken mutt" eggs in the bator last night at 9:45pm, so you can count me in.....This is my very first hatch ever, and I am SUPER nervous....I think my temps are pretty steady right now, it spikes to 101.4, but then starts going down pretty quickly...I have 4 thermometers in there and I am getting 4 different temps and humidity readings, not sure which one to believe, LOL....I hope to get a few to hatch, but not 100% sure all are fertile....Can't wait to candle and check them out!

I just came off of a hatch - and it was a bad one

only three hatched (last friday) and survived out of 24 eggs...i'm using an lg still air and at that time i didn't have a fan installed in the bator, but now my hubby rigged one up for me and it's taken care of the temp but my humidity is a bit high, i had to take the sponge out, so hoping the humidity will stabilize itself or i'll be up all night on bator duty - again!

What does the fan do? I guess I will try to install one if this hatch doesn't go right....

I am just gonna let mine go tonight, I think the average of all my thermometer readings is in the range they are supposed to be, so I am gonna hope for the best.....My husband and I use to breed Bearded Dragons and Crested Geckos, but they weren't as picky as the chicken eggs, LOL....
