Anyone Setting Eggs Tonight 3/31/2011 - Come join me if you like!

Have you had any hatch yet? I have not had any temp fluxuations during lockdown. I did have spikes during incubation but no dips. Everyone was alive and dancing in their shells prior to lockdown. This is so sad.

No pips at all yet and haven't heard any peeping, it is day 21 but I set mine in the PM.
I'm trying something new by placing mine on a hatching tray so that they were the same level as the turner so there wasn't any changes in placement or temp.
I haven't messed with them at all and just check the temp and humidity every time I go by them.
Here is a picture of the tray.....just a plastic tray they use for stacking eggs.

Sorry you have no pips either. Mine were set in the evening too. But I dont think that really matters. Can take hours to zip. I dont think any of mine are going to hatch and I have accepted it. I did add more water today since its oly reading 50%. That number is fine, but I am just expiermenting.

Day 22, and six chicks are out now, 4 wheaten and 1 black bantam Ameraucana and 1 splash Silkie. I'm worried about my other pips, though; I wonder if the humidity's okay, although the trays are full and the others hatched with no problem. I took the hygrometer wire out because I was worried about the hatched chicks getting tangled in it (and I don't think it was accurate anyway). I have one who has broken the outer shell, but the white membrane beneath is not broken. Has it dried out? The broken eggshells from the hatched chicks look kind of dry, but I thought the humidity would spike once the chicks started hatching and releasing all that egg moisture into the 'bator. Hmmm.

Anyway, we're thrilled with the number of wheatens since that's the variety my daughter shows. The kids got to witness two actually hatching, and we had visiting kids here too who got to see this little miracle. Amazing.

Good for you!! I'm glad to hear there's finally something happening in your 'bator. I was feeling the same way yesterday, wondering if the whole hatch was going to be a bust. Hope it goes well.

So when I go into lock down, I could leave the eggs in the turner just unplug it. I thought they had to lay on the side? But if I can leave them on the turner, that would be ideal. Any thoughts?
