Hi guys! I love this forum and can't get enough of it!! I am a very first time chicken owner and I have four very dramatic and cute 2.5 week old ISA browns pullets. I did not get the chicks for meat or egg purpose... just simply saw them at Tractor Supply and thought they were cute.

After having had them for almost two weeks, I just find them so incredibly cute that I'm thinking about stop eating chicken.... has it happened to you? I had a friend that raised a pig, became so attached to the pig and stopped eating pork.

Sorry- this is not meant to start a debate on vegetarianism or anything. Just a random tought- hence the random rambling forum ha. View attachment 3050920
So cute!

I stopped eating chicken for years after helping my Aunt’s neighbours kill and prepare about 20 birds for Christmas gifts/dinners.

But just the other day I caught myself eating a chicken sandwich while watching my chooks in the garden. Felt so wrong, but I finished the sandwich!

Oh em gee; yours are cute!!!! Thankfully, they don't look THAT cute when grown and may thus go into our pot without a hitch. LOL!!

Seriously, this thread caught my eye. I have yet to obtain chicks (soon, in planning stages) and I wonder (would be surprised) if I wound up like you. See, here's the thing . . . I decided to jump on the chick bandwagon over the last several months listening to the woke folk (I guess that's what they are); i..e, the people online saying we are in/facing a recession going into a depression and food shortages this Fall (coming quickly). IF half of what they say is true, there will be no food on the shelves and even if there were, most of us (sans the elite) won't have money to buy food. So, I thought it a good time to learn about proper care of chickens (self sustainability and all that jazz). So, IF that is the case and I choose to NOT eat my chickens I will be up S creek. {shoulder shrug}.

Stay tuned, let's see if I jump ship on eating my poultry. Why I have already selected my Brahma Roos name (Samson) and my first hen (Clarice). Ha Ha Ha!!!
